Antique Chinese Teapot Dragon Foo Dog Porcelain Square Tea Pot
$65
I am selling an Antique Teapot Dragon Foo Dog Chinese Porcelain Square Tea Pot in excellent condition. No chips or cracks. Used twice. Chinese Quanlong marked Republic period Famille Rose. This is a beautiful and highly unique antique Chinese porcelain teapot, a stunning example of late Republic period craftsmanship. The teapot is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or restorations, and has been used only a couple of times, preserving its beauty.
The square shape of the body is a rare and striking feature, adorned on all four sides with vibrant hand-painted designs in the Famille Rose palette. The artwork includes:
Two sides: A pair of majestic dragons, symbols of power and good fortune, are rendered in dynamic motion, coiling amidst clouds.
Two sides: A detailed scene of a Foo Dog (or Chinese guardian lion), an auspicious symbol, surrounded by lush flora and decorative elements.
The lid is equally detailed, featuring a seated dragon figure as the finial. The spout and handle are both thoughtfully designed, with the handle shaped to resemble a stylized dragon's tail. The base of the teapot carries a red 大清乾隆年製 (Dà Qīng Qiánlóng Nián Zhì) mark, meaning "Made in the Qianlong Reign of the Great Qing Dynasty." While often used on later pieces to honor the style of the Qianlong period, this mark adds a layer of historical interest and decorative appeal.
This teapot is a wonderful and highly collectible item for enthusiasts of Chinese ceramics. It would make a spectacular display piece in a cabinet or on a shelf, celebrating the rich artistry of a bygone era.
