Wood hand sculpted old man

Fantastic craftsmanship, hand carved. This old man has such a fun expression. There is a scratched in signature, R or F. D______? I can't make it out. In ink on the bottom " Bought September 3, 1977. Very similar to Ateliur Nuel Guay's work. Even though he has a chunk out of the side of his hat, it gives him even more character! He is also missing a walking stick and the handle to the pail (now a little bit of talent and you can whittle a new stick and make a wire handle for his pail. His hands have a place to insert both. Measures 9 3/4" x 3.5" at the base. Just love this old guy, makes me smile. Door pick up.
