He is believed to be Shouxing one of the three stellar deities of happiness, wealth, and longevity (Fu-Lu-Shou san xing) in Chinese mythology. He is portrayed as an old man with a prominent forehead, a long beard, and a staff. Symbolism: He is holding a peach, which symbolizes immortality, and a staff, often adorned with a gourd or other symbols of longevity. The peach is associated with the Queen Mother of the West's peaches of immortality. The vibrant red hue is carved from cinnabar or a similar colored resin, is considered a symbol of prosperity and good fortune in Chinese culture.
