Antique Japanese Meiji Shibayama Etagiere Bookcase

Beautiful handmade Japanese bookshelf crafted in the Shibayama technique of shell, bone and wood inlay in combination with relief carvings. There is some damage to the fretwork and some loss on the panels but with the majority remaining it is still an absolutely beautiful work of traditional art. This particular unit Features sliding doors hinged doors, drawers and individual panels decorated with scenes of nature; birds and insects, flowers and trees etc. There’s always something new and charming. The piece is large, about 5’x8’x 2’ in my estimation. The base is the only part possible to separate. Pick up in Flatbush.
