1972 HAITI "Her True Face" Coffee Table Book

A rare and historically significant vintage coffee table book, "HAÏTI: The first Negro Republic in the New World - her true face" (son vrai visage / su verdadera cara). Published circa 1972 during the controversial Duvalier regime. This large-format, official publication presents a state-sanctioned view of Haiti's culture, people, military, and achievements during that pivotal era. The entire text is presented trilingually in French, Spanish, and English. Lavishly illustrated with numerous color and black-and-white photographs. Black cloth cover features a beautiful gold gilt stamped palm tree, with an intricate vèvè-like symbol on the back. Comes with its original protective slipcase. The book itself is in Excellent / Near Mint vintage condition. The slipcase is in Fair / Good condition.
