Four vintage Chicago landmark plates
$36
Enjoy this quartet of vintage collector plates featuring colorful Chicago landmarks rendered by Franklin McMahon, an acclaimed American illustrator and "reportorial artist" who brought his gift for drawing to cover some of the most important political developments of his day. These plates, which as a full set were issued in pairs between 1972 and 1981, were crafted by Homer Laughlin, and featured as a two-a-year premium to customers of the Continental Bank in Chicago.
The plates featured here are The Water Tower Staunch Survivor of the Great Fire - 1972, The Wrigley Building - 1973, A Chicago Summer Evening - 1974, and LaSalle Street Canyon - 1981. They are vibrant and colorful scenes, full of iconic images from the City of Big Shoulders. I have others, so please feel free to check into those listings if this quartet doesn't contain the ones you're looking for.
The plates measure 8 inches in diameter, and all are in excellent condition, with no signs of chips, nicks, cracks or crazing. A brilliant and vibrant set of Chicago memorabilia!!
Thanks for looking. Best wishes from Chicago!
