2020 MacBook Air ACTIVATION LOCK for parts or repair

This MacBook was purchased secondhand and has been used without issues for the past 2–3 years. After doing a factory reset to prepare it for resale, I discovered it’s activation locked due to the previous owner’s Apple ID still being connected.
