The cups slide right out, put them in the dishwasher top rack or put into some sudsy warm water and wipe clean. They go back in just as easy. The entire unit is fairly small so it doesn't take up a lot of room. Using cooking spray on the trays kept anything from sticking. You want to make sure any meat you use is precooked. It only takes 4-5 minutes to get the sandwich just right. Make sure to preheat the unit and have all the ingredients you want to use ready before starting the pre-heat which takes a few minutes.
