16" Mexican Hojalata Tin Mirror with Talavera Tiles

Beautiful, handcrafted folk art wall mirror from San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. This hacienda style piece features a rustic oxidized hammered tin frame and hand-painted ceramic talavera tiles. Tin has been oxidized to have the 'coffee' patina which resembles aged bronze or copper. It has hand-punched floral designs at the corners and on the arched crown. Mirror has 12 hand-painted talavera tiles in warm amber/yellow tones. The tiles have a beautiful, intentional crazing (fine crackle glaze) which is a hallmark of traditional kiln-fired Mexican ceramics. Total dimensions: about 16" H x 11" W. Internal mirror glass is 8.5" H x 6.25" W. Mirror is in very good used condition. There are some light marks from the tin bending in storage at the top that don't affect function.
