Vintage Tiffany & Co. $25 "Tiffany Money" coins are collectible sterling silver tokens produced in the early 1980s. Originally redeemable for $25 in merchandise, these retired .925 silver coins weigh about 26 to 31 grams.
In the early 1980s, Tiffany & Co. introduced these large, heavy silver coins as an alternative to traditional gift certificates. They were engraved with the words "Tiffany Money - Redeemable in merchandise at Tiffany & Co."Once a customer spent the coin in a Tiffany boutique, the store would permanently retire them. Because they were removed from circulation and melted down or kept by collectors, the surviving uncirculated or lightly handled examples are fairly scarce.
