Pinguicula/Butterwort (Carnivorous Plant)

Pinguicula emarginata x weser A cute rosette-shaped carnivorous plant that’s great for pest control. Its leaves produce a sticky substance that traps small insects like fungus gnats. It can also grow small purple flowers! The last picture is the bloom from its mother plant. Considered easy care for a carnivorous plant, but might require more maintenance than a regular houseplant. Also willing to trade this plant for cute ceramic pots or live moss that can be used for terrariums. In a 4 inch container. Light requirement: high light, needs to be grown right next to a sunny window or under a grow light. I’ve tried to grow it in lower light conditions but I find that less light makes the leaves stretched out and the leaves no longer make the sticky residue. Substrate: I have it growing in sphagnum moss, but they can also be grown on lava rock or carnivorous plant soil. They’re from bog-like environments that are so devoid of nutrients that they’ve evolved to become carnivorous, so regular houseplant soil can’t be used because it has too many nutrients. Watering: Whenever the moss gets dry. It likes humidity, so it’s suitable to be grown in a terrarium or bright washroom.
