Original hand crafted Rwanda traditional Agaseke “Peace Basket” with a distinctive conical lid.
This basket represents reconciliation and hope.
Historically this basket would be used to store valuables like jewelry or food and frequently as gifts to brides during wedding ceremonies.
Coiled by hand of sisal fibre, papyrus and local grasses. Pattern is call “Umuraza.”
Very good condition. No issues. Any wear commensurates from prior usage.
Approximately 5.5” in diameter across the top excluding the lid, 5.5” deep and 10.5” tall including the lid.
