This Vintage Arthur Wood & Sons Pottery porcelain teapot "Tea For One" design line "DAWN" Circa 1999 was purchased in Fortnum & Mason in 1999 and is still taped together and in the original box. It also comes with a cute little book about tea that has a teabag as a place marker.
The ARTHUR WOOD Pottery was based at the Bradwell Works in Longport ' Stoke-on-Trent, the premises of Capper & Wood established in 1884 producing primarily teapots, Arthur Wood became sole owner in 1904 trading up until 1928 when the company name was changed to Arthur Wood & Sons Limited & further ranges of tableware were introduced. In 1967 the company acquired the Carlton Works Pottery & continued manufacturing ranges under the Carlton Ware name. Trading continued right up until 1989 when the company became part of Price & Kensington Potteries.
This is a stackable teapot for one set. The pattern features primitive folk art. The set consist of the following: a teapot, stands 3 1/2" tall & measures 6 1/2" wide from handle to spout. It holds 350ml(12 oz) & a teacup which stands 2 1/4" tall & measures 5 3/8" wide including the handle. The set is brand new in box no chips, no cracks or repairs. The original hall mark on the bottom of each item: "Arthur Wood Dawn Est 1884 Made in England.
