Rare 1900 Antique Floral Porcelain Plate with Gold Gilt

11 1/2”. All is hand painted with lots of gold details. And signed. Elegant porcelain plate with a white center and a light blue scalloped rim. It has hand-painted pink rose bouquets in the center and around the edges. The plate is decorated with intricate gold gilt scrollwork and raised relief patterns along the border. Manufacturer / Era: The blank porcelain body features a heavily molded, fluted/scalloped rim with a delicate pastel blue wash and raised scrollwork accents. Blanks with this distinct quality, texture, and Rococo styling were commonly produced by premier Bavarian porcelain manufacturers of the late 19th to early 20th century—such as Zeh, Scherzer & Co. (Z.S. & Co.) or contemporary regional studios. Decoration & Artistry: During the "China Painting Decade" (roughly the late 1800s through the 1930s), it was immensely popular for hobbyists and professional studio artists to purchase high-end white porcelain blanks and hand-paint them. This plate features a central spray of pink roses and delicate blue forget-me-nots, complemented by elaborate, raised gold-gilt scrollwork (often referred to as moriage or heavy raised gilding) framing the border. Artist Signature: The signature on the front reads "J. Johnston" (or a similarly styled artist name from that era), indicating the individual studio artist who hand-painted this specific blank.
