Beautiful hand-painted Russian lacquer box from the Novgorod school of miniature art, dated 1989 and titled “Битва” (The Battle). The artwork depicts two medieval warriors on horseback in combat under a radiant sun — a classic motif of Russian folk and iconographic style.
