Thomassie Echalook Canadian Inuit Soapstone Seal Sculpture

This hand-carved soapstone sculpture features two seals. It is a genuine piece of Canadian Inuit art that comes with its original identification tag. Thomassie Echalook was a respected Arctic sculptor and graphic artist. Born in a nomadic camp, he began carving at the age of 25—a craft he inherited from his father, who was also a renowned carver. His work is highly regarded for its attention to detail, bold and robust forms, and a profound connection to the Arctic wilderness. Thomassie Echalook’s pieces are held in the collections of prominent Canadian and international museums and galleries, and he exhibited regularly in Canada, the United States, Germany, and Israel.
