There’s no app to download, no account to create, and no internet needed. Here’s exactly how it works: 1. You call the TalkLoop number You just dial the main TalkLoop line: +12497005489 No signup, no information required — the system only knows your call, not your name. 2. You choose what type of conversation you want The automated system lets you pick by pressing a number on your phone: • 1 — Talk to a Student • 2 — Talk to an Elder • 3 — Random Chat • 4 — Crisis Redirect (connects you to real crisis resources) • 0 — Talk to our AI Buddy (for short supportive chat loops) This gives you choice and comfort. 3. You get connected to a “Looper” A Looper is a volunteer who signs up on our website to be available to talk. Loopers: • stay completely anonymous • text ONLINE to our number when they are free so they can receive calls • text OFFLINE when they want to stop the calls from coming in. So in other words they have control. • are trained with simple guidelines on empathy, listening, and boundaries The system ONLY connects callers to Loopers who are currently online. 4. All calls are private and safely routed Your phone number is never shared with the other person for safety purposes. TalkLoop routes both sides through a secure system so identities stay hidden. There is also: • language filters to block abusive calls • auto-ban rules if someone gets three bad ratings • instant crisis rerouting for users needing urgent help Safety is baked into the design from the ground up. 5. Optional anonymous group calls Twice a week, TalkLoop runs anonymous group conversations (Tues & Fri at 7 PM). Anyone who RSVPs gets called automatically, and everyone joins the same safe group room. No names, no identities — just voices. Users who want to participate text JOIN on the day of group chat and are automatically RSVP'ed. If they get busy they can text BUSY so they are removed. Five minutes before group chat they are reminded via text and at 7 all participants are automatically called by our system. 6. A daily limit to protect volunteers To keep Loopers from spam: • Callers can make a maximum of 5 one-on-one calls per day • training & tips are provided on our website Quality > quantity. 7.
