Gregory Kalyna: Wildlife Sculptor Gregory Kalyna (1947–2022) He was a former Russian special forces commander in his early adult life. His passions were sculpting, golf, archery, shooting at his range, security, and martial arts, mainly C.Q.C.S. He was an expert in hand-to-hand combat, weapon disarming and survival tactics and has been teaching Close Quarters Combat Sambo (C.Q.C.S) to law enforcement and regular civilians for decades. Canadian wildlife artist and sculptor renowned for his detailed bronze and cold-cast resin works depicting North American animals, particularly big cats, eagles, and other predatory species. Based in Guelph, Ontario, he specialized in limited-edition pieces that blend realism with dynamic motion, often capturing the raw energy of nature. His sculptures were produced in the 1980s–2000s, gaining popularity among collectors of Western and wildlife art. Kalyna passed away peacefully on December 5, 2022, at age 75.
