Sadler "Brown Betty" style teapot England #cleanout
$30
This is a pre-owned Sadler "Brown Betty" style teapot, known for its distinctive dark brown Rockingham glaze. It measures 4” tall and 7” from handle to spout.
James Sadler and Sons Ltd. was originally founded in Burslem, England. The company went into receivership in 2000, and production of original Sadler teapots has since been discontinued, making existing pieces highly collectible.
The dark manganese glaze is known as a Rockingham glaze, which helps to hide tea stains over time. Authentic Brown Betty teapots are traditionally made from the red clay found in Staffordshire, which is believed to retain heat better than any other clay, ensuring tea stays hot longer. The rounded shape of the pot allows loose tea leaves to swirl gently, which helps create a superior infusion.
Pickup is at 58th and 7th Ave in midtown Manhattan.
