FREE DELIVERY: Vintage Moroccan Dresser $400 (HRM)
$400
Beautiful vintage dresser made from real maple and walnut hardwoods, in excellent shape. [est. circa ~1970-1974].
Features a Moroccan or Moorish-revival styled drawer front, with mid-60’s transitionalism.
The inner drawers feature highly unusual scalloped (curved) drawer edges on left and right sides — this is a very highly rare and unique feature, signalling a level of craftsmanship that is not really seen in modern builds, and is even rare within the broad class of antique dressers. The styling carries forward characteristics from late 60’s, specifically the leg style, and the thin top protrusion, with overall clean relative proportions; so the overall presentation is partially “transitional” to the mid-60’s, but with a heavier conspicuousness / emphasis to the front-and-centre presented ~70-74 (early 70s) Moroccan drawer shapes, reminiscent of shapes and detail also seen in middle eastern mosques.
The lower 3 drawers retract with ease, with the ergonomic and burly drawer edges (they are more comfortable to pull out than they look - no sharp edges!). The top drawer retracts with ease with left and right vintage pulls, appears to be original pulls, and are in excellent shape as well.
Everything works as it should and everything is clean. No odours.
This dresser has really unique features, that i’ll itemize:
#1) Curved inner drawers (I’ve never seen this before, of the thousands of dressers that I’ve personally seen). Has a futuristic architectural feel to it, for the era, and imho even for today. This feature feels like a prehistoric contemporary attribute.
#2) Moroccan arch design (also called Moresque styling) across multiple drawers, which happen to be ergonomic and comfortable. The inner design presents a gorgeous mesmerizing cerused grain.
#3) One might expect fake wood or thin veneers for all the elaborate appearance, but as you can see on the back (as pictured), the top is a very thick real wood veneer (generously sized wood slice in the world of veneers), atop a thick real wood substrate (almost half inch thick) which also appears like a hardwood or maple species. See photos and/or inspect in person. Seems more a designer or custom dresser than mass produced from an Eaton catalog; e.g.: No picture matches found in Google Lens.
Although all vintage furniture pieces are unique in one way or another, this is especially so. If you pass this up, you might never see curved inner drawers (letalone this) or the pairing with unique exterior Morrocan / mediterranean transitional themes, but, good luck to all interested parties! No holds.
Delivery is included in the price, available throughout HRM. Worry-free ordering is my policy and philosophy, please take your time to check out and try out the dresser on the delivery, with a right to refuse, there is no obligation and no pressure; make your own assessment, and thank you.
