Vintage Figurines (Made in Italy)

think these may be from a nativity set, but have been unable to find anything like them.
They're made out of a very hard plastic, and appear to be handpainted.
They stand 7 3/4 inches in height.
On the bottom, they're marked "Italy 316", and "Italy 317".
Very unique, and incredibly detailed.
Both are in excellent condition.
$20/both.
