Mason Patent Ironstone Miniature Hydra Jug, Japan Basket

Antique Mason’s Patent Ironstone miniature hydra jug in the highly collectible Japan Basket pattern, dating to the early 19th century. Features the classic serpent (hydra) handle and octagonal form with richly decorated Imari-style colors including cobalt blue, iron red, and gilt accents. The base retains an early impressed circular “Mason’s Patent Ironstone China” mark, consistent with pre-crown production examples from the earliest patent ironstone period. Measuring approximately 3 inches high, this miniature example is highly desirable among collectors of early Mason’s Ironstone, Georgian ceramics, and English antique pottery.
