Vintage Abstract/Cross Sculpture from Germany

This is an original sculpture by Gudrun Probst. She was a German sculptor who worked with a combination of clay and natural objects (driftwood), as well as discarded metal. Dimensions: 34 inches high, 17.5" wide at the widest point, 5.5" deep (including the nail). From a 2012 article about some of her other work: "The wood represents growth and decay, the clay she models represents earth from which every human being is created, the iron represents hardness.” “Her preferred subject is the cross. She refers to her crosses as Easter crosses, as symbols of the resurrection." "Gudrun Probst studied sculpture under Prof. Karl Ehlers at the Werkkunstschule in Münster. Since 1984 she has been working in her own workshop with a kiln and a small gallery."
