Heidelberg Glass Painting

This is a reverse glass painting, known in Germany as Hinterglasmalerei, depicting Heidelberg Castle. The scene is a popular subject for this technique, frequently attributed to artists like Russell. The artwork is created by applying paint directly to the back of a pane of glass. It is typically found in a solid, heavy wooden frame, sometimes featuring beveled mirror inserts around the border. Needs some touch-up as backing is showing through in a few spots. Vintage, Antiques. Cash accepted.
