1970s Handmade Indigenous Suede Leather Fringe Bag
$95
Beautiful vintage 1970s handmade suede leather fringed shoulder bag/ crossbody bag, in a golden caramel colour. Believed to be deerskin but can't say for certain. Indigenous-made, from the Sioux Lookout area of Northwestern Ontario (artisan identity and nation unknown).
Bag has long layered fringe, hand-laced leather detailing, perforated punch-hole accents and a circular black and white beadwork bird medallion/ rosette on the front. Has a lovely worn-in look to the suede, with an earthy geometric patterned lining. A great one-of-a-kind vintage piece with lots of character.
Bag is in good vintage condition; structurally sound, with natural wear and variations to the suede. The strap has some creasing from sitting in storage, there is some patina from wear at high-friction spots, and the back has some dimpling to the suede.
Bag measures about 9.25" wide x 10" tall, excluding the bottom fringe, which is about 5.5" long. Strap drop measures about 19".
