Rare Find! S. Sternau & Co. Antique Brass Spirit Kettle
$65
Victorian era brass spirit kettle/teapot made by S. Sternau & Co. The patent for this particular kettle was registered in 1893, but I believe this one was purchased circa 1910-1920. This kettle has a brass base with tin lining inside the kettle. It has a wooden spindle handle in black and claw “feet” The chains holding the kettle to the base are intact and functional. The set includes the kettle, the original burner stand and the inner fuel wick holder. It is in very good antique condition as it has all its original parts to make it a functional portable kettle. It even has a coiled length of wax covered wick inside! The kettle has the maker’s mark (Sternau & Co monogram) clearly engraved on its surface. It does have a dent on the back side near the spout (please see pictures) but at over 100 years old, how could it not?
