History of the Ship Oryol
The Oryol holds significant symbolic weight in Russian maritime history:
First of its Kind: It was the first Russian-built warship designed in the Western European style.
Commission: Ordered by Tsar Alexis I, it was built between 1667 and 1669 at the Dedinovo shipyard to protect trade routes on the Caspian Sea.
The Russian Flag: It is historically credited as the first ship to fly the Russian tricolor flag (white, blue, and red).
Short Service: Its career was brief; it was captured and destroyed by rebel forces led by Stepan Razin in 1670 before it could fulfill its mission.
It's a sturdy nautical decor piece and would look great on a Mantel/Desk
