One thing that makes sweetgrass baskets special is that they aren’t made with typical weaving techniques like plaiting or twisting. Instead Gullah artists employ West African traditions of coiling. Dried sweetgrass bundled together and coiled in circles. A nice place to house special small mementos. Good condition considering the age. Any wear commensurates with the age and prior usage.
