Vintage ATTR Povl Dinesen Teak & Rattan 1970s Sewing Table

Vintage sewing table made by Povl Dinesen (unmarked) in Denmark in the 1970s is crafted from brown teak wood, showcasing an even, pronounced grain and a matte finish. The rectangular top, softened by gently rounded corners and supported by slender U-shaped legs, exemplifies Scandinavian modernism with clarity of geometry and inherent functionality. Elongated, integrated handles are carved into the short drawer sides—an understated, ergonomic solution that preserves the purity of form and facilitates use. Beneath the tabletop, sits a drawer housing a storage compartment divided into various sizes, followed by a large and beautifully preserved rattan basket. Though traditionally used as a sewing table, this table can be repurposed as a living room end table to store life’s odds and ends, or as an entryway table to store mail and keys—a nod to Scandinavian design which considers elegant design and functionality to be of equal importance.
