Freeze Dryer Rental

What is freeze drying? Freeze drying is a dehydration technique based on the sublimation of water in a product. This means that the products water content transitions from a solid to a gaseous state, or from ice to vapor without going through the liquid state. How does it work? The food in the chamber is cooled to approximately -40F (-40C) Then a vacuum is formed around the food as the temperature slowly rises. This causes the moisture in the food to escape as a gas rather than a liquid. What are the benefits? Freeze dried food can last for up to 25yrs, requires no refrigeration, retains 97% of the nutrition in your food, the taste is maintained, and a lot more benefits. How much food can be done at once? An average of 11 pounds or more can be done per batch. The amount will depend on water content and size of the items so once you let me know the item(s) I can give you a better estimate. The maximum is 14 pounds of food. (18 eggs per tray / 90 per batch, 4 cups per tray / 20 per batch) What is freeze dried food good for? Freeze dried foods are great for almost anything! Camping, backpacking, RVs, snacks, a quick and easy meal, healthier snacks for the kids, emergency preparedness, and a lot more. Pricing: The base price is $50 per batch. I can also do individual trays for $12 per tray. Candy Batch: The base price is $25 per batch. I can also do individual trays for $6 per tray. Multiple Batches: I can do consecutive batches for you at a discounted rate of $40 per batch. Preparation: If you are prepping your own items please cut your items no thicker than 1.5 inches. I can also prep your foods for you for an extra $25 per batch. Packaging: Items will be packaged in your choice of packaging with an oxygen absorber included. Mylar Bags: $1 per bag // Vacuum Bags: $2 per batch // Mason Jars: $2 per quart jar You can also provide your own means of storage if you would like to. (Mason jars, containers, etc) For Mylar bags, I will put like items in the same bags (fruit with fruit, vegetables with vegetables, etc) this is to save you cost on bags that may only be half full otherwise. If you want items all separated, please let me know in advance. Candies don’t get oxygen absorbers since it will heat up and cause the candy to deflate and become chewy again. Drop off: Items are best dropped off 1-2 days before the booked day to allow for adequate freezing (this cuts down on cycle time and gets the product to you faster) Items can be dropped off on the booked day but this will result in longer cycle times since items will not be able to be pre-frozen. Pick up: When your items are finished freeze drying I will message you to figure out a time that works for both of us. Items MUST be picked up within 20 days of my initial pickup message, otherwise they will be kept as compensation. If you don’t reply to my pickup message after 7 days, I will keep your items as compensation as well. Please understand that if I'm already actively freeze drying your items that it is not possible to cancel. Shelf Life: Shelf life may vary based on how many times bags are opened, if stored in direct sunlight, and numerous other factors.
