A pair of beautiful and authentic Chinese "Rice Grain" (Linglong) porcelain tea cups dating from the late 19th Century (Late Qing Dynasty). This piece features the classic translucent "rice eye" technique where the porcelain body is pierced and filled with clear glaze.
Design & Symbolism:
• Interior: Central Floral medallion in underglaze blue with gold Buddhist swastika/ Wan characters
• Rim: Decorated with "Wufu" (Bats), a traditional symbol for good fortune and blessings.
• Exterior: Traditional geometric diaper upper border and 3 of the 8 Buddhist Treasures design on bottom border.
• Mark: Hand-painted four-character underglaze blue "Kangxi Nian Zhi" mark on the base (apocryphal revival mark typical of the period).
Condition:
Excellent antique condition with no cracks, chips, or restorations but just good honest wear over time.
