Produced exclusively for the 1953 holiday season, this mid-century modern barware staple features an elegant, deeply embossed Art Nouveau-style swirling vine and floral pattern. This is the desirable "two-faced" design: one side prominently features the embossed "SCHENLEY" name woven into the scrollwork, while the reverse face features an uninterrupted, completely clean pattern meant for elegant home bar cart display once the original paper labels were removed. Markings & Historical Authenticity (On Base): • Legal Inscription: "Federal Law Forbids Sale or Re-use of this Bottle" (Mandatory post-Prohibition era stamping). • Date & Plant Codes: Clearly embossed with 46 D-9 53 4. The 53 definitively dates the bottle to 1953, and D-9 is the federal permit code for Schenley. • Maker's Mark: Features the vintage interlocking "I" and "O" inside a diamond logo, authenticating it as a premium bottle manufactured by the famous Owens-Illinois Glass Company. Condition & Stopper Detail: • Glass: Excellent vintage condition. The glass is clear and bright with crisp, sharp embossing. No cracks, chips, or heavy cloudiness. • Stopper: Includes the original, beautifully preserved clear glass ribbed crown topper. • Note on Functionality: The cork assembly features a modern, white plastic tip replacement on the bottom segment. While the glass topper itself is 100% original, this sturdy, practical repair prevents the vintage cork from drying or crumbling into your liquor—making this decanter fully functional, secure, and ready to hold your modern bourbon, rye, or spirits safely. Measurements: • Height: 11 inches (Base to top of stopper) • Width: 6 inches (At widest point) • Depth: 2 inches Add a perfect touch of mid-century authentic style to your bar cart or vintage bottle collection Nearest intersection Yonge Street and Steeles Avenue
