Art of Chokin Vintage Peacock Jewelry Box

Vintage and rare black porcelain Chokin jewelry box made in Japan. Chokin is the ancient Japanese art of engraving copper and gilding it with precious gold and silver. The metalwork on the lid features two peacocks on a cherry blossom tree with Japanese characters. There are gold bands around the lid and base. All gold is in excellent condition.
