Vintage Windstone Editions “Hatching Galapagos Tortoise” collectible figurine. This detailed hand-painted sculpture depicts a baby Galapagos tortoise emerging from a cracked egg. The original sculpture was created by Melody Peña and produced in the USA by Windstone Editions. According to the official Windstone archive, this model was introduced in 1987, retired in 1998 and will not be produced again. Paint loss and rubbing can be seen around the nose and face, front feet and toes, neck, edges of the eggshell and several other raised areas. A few small blue and dark marks are also visible on the eggshell. The cracked appearance of the egg is part of the original sculpted design. No major missing sections or obvious repairs were observed in the photographed areas. Please inspect all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description.
