Vintage DC Romance Comics – 8 Books, 1970s

Cleaning out a family collection and selling off the DC romance comics as one lot. These are all from the early-mid 70s, Comics Code approved, and the covers alone are worth the price. Great for anyone who collects vintage comics, likes retro art for framing. What’s included: Young Romance #196 (Dec) – “I Was Raised by Wolves.” Courtroom divorce story, daughter trying to hold her mom together while dad starts a new family. Condition VG/VG+, cleanest book of the group, light general wear only. Young Love #106 (Nov) – “Daughter of Women’s Lib.” Girl competes with her own boyfriend for an after-school job. Cover line is “even if I have to look like a sex object” — wild for a mainstream comic. VG-, some cover wear. Young Love #101 (Nov) – “The Wrong Bride.” Woman steals another girl’s fiancé right at the wedding. VG-/G+, there’s water staining on the top corner, visible in photos. Young Love #102 (Jan) – Split cover, his side and her side of the same goodbye kiss. VG-, some rust bleed-through near the staples from age. Young Love #120 (Winter) – “Too Old, Too Young.” Part of the DC Super-Stars line, 25 cent cover price. Beach makeout scene on the cover, pretty racy for the era. VG-/G+, has some spine roll and heavier general wear than the rest. Young Love #111 (Sept) – 100-page giant issue, “I Was the Love Expert.” Girl ends up running a love advice column while dealing with her own messy love life. VG-, general wear. Young Love #103 (Apr) – “Operation Star.” Girl helps turn her boyfriend into a music star and loses him to fame in the process, plus a backup story called “Marc, the Mauling Male.” VG-, general wear. Girls’ Love Stories #175 (Jan) – Four stories in one issue, including “Half a Love” and a reader-response contest asking if a romance can be saved. VG-, light moisture staining on the top corner. All the flaws I can see are noted above and in the photos, nothing hidden. These are reading/display copies, not submission grade, priced accordingly. Pickup only.
