Large vintage soapstone polar bear sculpture by the Canadian artist Maurice L. Lund. Signed by the artist to the underside. Maurice L. Lund (1932-2013) was born in Manitoba. He resided in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. He began carving in 1980. Each sculpture he created from stones (marble, soapstone and alabaster) originated from Ontario, Quebec, Labrador, Italy, Portugal, Vermont, Utah, Brazil just to name a few. This sculpture features a polar bear standing on an ice floe. The attention to detail and design is amazing. Great condition. No chips or cracks. Normal imperfections. Any wear commensurates with the age. Approximately 13” wide and 13” tall.
