Vintage Russian Matryoshka Bottle Holders

Charming pair of vintage Russian Matryoshka bottle holders, beautifully handcrafted from wood and decorated in traditional folk art style. Each piece is hand-painted with vibrant floral motifs and depicts a classic Russian couple in traditional dress. The female figure holds a bouquet of flowers and measures approximately 11 inches tall, while the male figure, holding flowers and a sword, measures about 10 inches tall. The slight height difference appears to be due to the woman’s traditional headdress. The bottom of the female figure is marked “Rodnik,” and the male figure retains its original sticker reading “Hand Made in Russia”. “Rodnik,” a Russian folk-art workshop known for hand-painted wooden decorative pieces inspired by traditional Khokhloma-style motifs. These pieces are designed to open and hold a bottle inside, though they can also be displayed simply as decorative folk art sculptures. The halves fit snugly and may take a little effort to open, which often suggests they were rarely used as bottle holders.
