- Japaning (black finish) is very good with only minor wear
- Highly sought-after Franklin motor
- Machine turns freely
- Original Sears badge on the pillar
For sale is an absolutely stunning example of a classic Sears Roebuck “Minnesota A” sewing machine, manufactured by the Davis Sewing Machine Company circa 1910–1920 and beautifully preserved for over 100 years.
This is the highly desirable “Model A” version with the elaborate floral and scroll gold decal set in near-perfect condition — easily 90–95% of the original gold remains with vibrant color and only minor age-appropriate rubbing. The black japan finish is glossy and deep with no major scratches or losses.
In the 1930s–1950s this machine was professionally converted to electric with the best motor money could buy at the time: an original Franklin “potted” motor (Sears part #91-17170). These Franklin motors are legendary among collectors for their durability and smooth, quiet operation!
