Rare Officine Galileo ESAOG 5cm f/2 – Leica M Mount, Rangefinder
$2,000
A rare vintage Italian 50mm f/2 lens, originally removed from a Ferrania–Officine Galileo Condor II rangefinder camera. The Condor II was itself a scarce, high-end Italian camera from the early 1950s, and surviving ESAOG lenses are seldom offered separately. The ESAOG was the premium lens of the Condor II and is often cited as one of the fastest photographic lenses made entirely in Italy at the time. It uses a six-element, Double-Gauss-derived optical design, delivering strong central sharpness, rich tonal transitions and distinctive vintage rendering. Wide open, it produces a softer glow and characterful bokeh; stopped down, contrast and detail improve noticeably. This example has been custom-converted to Leica M mount with functional rangefinder coupling, allowing accurate focusing through the camera’s rangefinder patch rather than scale focusing only. Serial number: 022447. The lens shows age-related cosmetic wear and visible cleaning marks on the glass, as shown in the photos. Please note that this is a custom conversion and not the original factory configuration. Lens only. Local pickup in Vancouver.
