1940s Solid Walnut Executive Desk & Oak Swivel Chair
$400
Beautiful, solid wood office set purchased new by my family in the 1940s. Both pieces were made by the renowned Office Specialty Mfg. Co. of Newmarket, Ontario, and have been well-cared for in a smoke-free home.
History & Quality:
Featuring mid century style and durability. Office Specialty was once the British Empire's largest manufacturer of office furniture. Known for their "built-to-last" philosophy, this desk and chair are far superior to modern flat-pack furniture.
The Desk:
• Material: Solid Walnut (rich, dark grain)
• Features: Double-pedestal design with a large work space, deep drawers, a file drawer, a pull-out shelf, a drawer organizer and original brass hardware. Includes a functional, pull-out typewriter shelf—a rare vintage feature.
• Condition: Good used condition with minor age-appropriate wear. Very sturdy and heavy. The glass top is cracked. It only sits on top and can be easily removed.
• The custom-built top shelf can easily be removed.
The Chair:
• Material: Solid Oak
• Features: Classic "Banker’s" style swivel chair with a curved back for comfort. The original heavy-duty tilting and height-adjustment mechanism works perfectly.
• Condition: Smooth swivel and sturdy frame.
This is a rare opportunity to own a complete, matching set of Canadian-made heritage furniture with a documented history. Perfect for a home office, den, or collector of Mid-Century / Industrial decor.
Dimensions:
