The back of the plywood panel features a vintage handwritten inscription identifying the subject as "Chief Red Bull" alongside the date "1918", honoring the historical Oglala Lakota figure. A vintage American Plywood Association (APA) stamp is also visible on the reverse wood. The metalwork features detailed pressed facial features surrounded by a hand-stippled, hammered texture background. The recessed grooves have naturally oxidized over the decades, creating a dark, rich patina that gives the 3D relief incredible depth and contrast.
