Great for nightvision recording. I tested it with Hi8 tapes, so you have nothing to worry about. It needs a battery; it can use NPF/330, 530, 550, 570, 750, 960 models. Right now, you can use it with the power cord, but for portable shots, I suggest getting a battery.
