Art Nouveau "Railway King" Attributed Nursing Rocker
$70
Location: Mission, BC
Timeless elegance.
This beautiful Art Nouveau/Victorian-era armless rocking chair was historically used as a "nursing" or "sewing" rocker. This piece has been in our family since it was purchased new over a century ago.
Potential Historical Provenance:
The chair features an original maker’s label on the underside. Based on family history, it is believed to be a product of the Mackenzie Brothers factory, a business operated by Sir William Mackenzie (the "Railway King of Canada") in Kirkfield, Ontario, before his rise to fame.
Dimensions:
• Total Height: 33"
• Seat: 17" W x 16" D (14" seat height)
• Rocker Length: 29"
Condition:
Good antique condition with character-building wear. The wood has a lovely dark patina. The rocker is loose on one side, and there is a small amount of damage to the cane seat (as seen in photos).
Disclaimer:
While family history and the label strongly suggest this chair was made by the Mackenzie Brothers of Kirkfield, its exact maker has not been professionally authenticated. It is sold "as-is" based on its era, style, and known family records.
