Gaudy Welsh Antique Porcelain Pewter Topped Shaker
$50
About 3.5” tall & 1.5” dia. It has a crack line up one side as shown in the last pic. I have not been able to open the lid. Very pretty & decorative. Gaudy Welsh is a type of Imari-decorated earthenware pottery, produced in Britain primarily between 1820 and 1860, known for its bold, colorful designs and affordability, especially for the working class, and popular in both Britain and North America. It was made in various pottery-making regions of Britain, including South Wales, the North East, the South West (Bristol), and the Staffordshire Potteries. It features a vibrant, almost childlike, color palette of cobalt blue, copper lustre, and various shades of green, yellow, orange, and pink. The colourful wares known as Gaudy Dutch, Gaudy Welsh, and Gaudy Ironstone are distinguished by their strong shapes and pigments. It was a cottage ware, produced during a period of significant change and innovation in the pottery industry.
