Meet Larry - He's seen some shit

“In shelters across Alberta, thousands of aging trucks are abandoned every year. Some are left in fields. Some are forgotten behind garages. Some spend their final days being lowballed on Marketplace by men named Kyle offering rat bagged dirt bikes and half a carton of fancy store bought cigarettes. But we simply couldn't do that to Larry. Larry is a 2003 Ford F-150 Lariat with a 5.4L V8 and 265,000 traveled kilometers of love to give. For over a decade, Larry faithfully transported children, pets, camping supplies, festival gear, guitars, groceries, seemingly endless emotional damage...and at least one sketchy late-night Marketplace purchase nobody talks about anymore. 😬 He never asked for much in return. Just regular oil changes, occasional tire rotations, and someone to whisper ‘atta boy’ while patting his hood when he still starts in -35. Now, Larry waits. Confused. Parked. Watching other trucks drive by while he sits quietly with his (almost) matching studded Hankooks and slightly arthritic ball joints. The shelter staff say he’s still a very good boy. House trained? Mostly. Great with kids? Absolutely. Needs a little medical attention? Don’t we all. Larry Enjoys: • windows down on windy backroads • grocery store parking lots • being overloaded ‘just this once’ • warm timbits on cold mornings • and long impromptu drives where nobody talks but everybody feels better afterward 🥹 He does have some cosmetic scarring, including rust on the driver’s door, detached door trim, and wrinkles in the leather from years of loyal companionship. But beneath his rough exterior beats the strong heart of a truck who still believes somebody will choose him.
