1970s Sunset Shag Wool Rug – 9’10” x 6’7”
$1,550
Exceptional 1970s British-made Axminster rug by Quayle Carpets of Kidderminster, England.
Constructed from 100% pure new wool, this oversized statement rug features a dramatic geometric design in burnt orange, rust, chocolate brown, and deep red—one of the most recognizable colour palettes of the decade.
Unlike many period shag rugs made from synthetic fibres, this example retains its original Axminster label confirming traditional British wool construction. The depth of colour, substantial weight, and luxurious pile are immediately apparent in person.
The scale alone makes it difficult to find. At nearly 10 feet long, it has the presence to anchor a living room, loft, studio, conversation pit, media room, or creative workspace.
Original manufacturer’s label remains attached to the reverse.
