Stunning vintage biomorphic stylized wooden bird sculpture. Hand-carved from solid wood, the artist utilized a natural knot and grain in the wood to form the bird's eye and chest.
It is signed on the base by the artist and marked "CANADA".
Gorgeous example of mid-century Canadian studio craft/folk art, heavily echoing the minimalist Scandinavian and organic design movements of the 1960s/1970s. About the size of a pigeon, at 8” long and 3.5” wide. Very good condition with just some small white markings on the base.
