Description
Up for sale is a highly collectible mid-century porcelain tray by legendary Italian designer Piero Fornasetti.
This stunning trompe-l’œil (fool-the-eye) piece replicates an authentic 1834 theatrical playbill for the historic I. R. Teatro alla Scala opera house in Milan, announcing a performance of the melodrama "NORMA" starring the famous Madama Malibran.
The dish features Fornasetti’s signature intentional "folded/crumpled paper" edge effect, giving it a beautiful, dimensional look. The reverse side includes a typed English history of the opera's premiere alongside the iconic Fornasetti Milano hand-and-paintbrush maker’s mark.
Features:
* Beautiful transfer-print typography that remains incredibly crisp and legible.
* Signature gold-leaf gilded border.
* Four factory-drilled mounting holes on the back corners, ready for an elegant wall display or to be used as a premium vanity trinket dish.
Condition Report:
This piece is in good vintage condition with beautiful character. No chips, cracks, or hairline fractures. There is normal, age-appropriate rubbing and wear to the gold gilding along the raised, wavy borders (please review all photos closely, as they form part of the description).
