Up for auction is a beautiful, authentic vintage Japanese blue and white porcelain decorative plate/saucer, originally imported by the renowned Takahashi Trading Company of San Francisco.
This piece features an intricate, mixed geometric and floral underglaze design. The center features a prominent floral medallion showcasing peonies/camellias, framed by four outer floral cartouches and a traditional repeating starburst lattice pattern. It is finished with a delicate, elegant scalloped rim.
The reverse side bears the crisp underglaze cobalt blue signature stamp for 松峰窯 (Shōhō-gama / Shoho Kiln), a prominent Japanese kiln known for its exceptional mid-century Sometsuke tablewares.
