Antique Edwardian Telephone Table Gossip Bench Hand Painted

Originally an English Edwardian twin-pedestal dressing table, circa 1900–1915. I removed the original tri-fold mirror and reworked it into an English-style telephone console — a gossip bench — keeping the two drawer pedestals, the open center, and the period bones fully intact. Hand-finished and one of a kind. A custom English Yellow blended with a Provençal palette was layered six to seven times over every surface, with a salt-and-medium texture technique creating the weathered-plaster look and blue-green undertones breaking through. The two wooden top platforms were conditioned separately in three tones so the timber reads aged and warm against the body. The factory brass was replaced with antique-style cast pulls that echo the pressed neoclassical mounts on the pedestal sides. Both drawers run on their original wood runners and open cleanly. It rides on its original Edwardian brass-cup castors, kept to emphasize the slender tapered legs. Original inventory label retained underneath. Measures 44ʺW × 13ʺD × 34.5ʺH overall; center seat platform approx. 15ʺ deep, approx. 24ʺ off the floor. Works as an entry console, telephone or accent table, hallway catch-all, or small seated perch. Solid, characterful, completely unique.
